COMMUNITY news

        Friends of Age Concern
Friends of Age Concern are a considerable asset to the charity as they provide
support to the volunteers by registering their approval of the work that the charity
undertakes. More Friends are sought for the coming year to enlarge the Age
Concern Community and ensure that as many supporters as possible can take
advantage of reduced rates for events.
What is a Friend of Age Concern?
A Friend is a person who does not necessarily want to play an active role in the work
of the charity but who supports its aims and objectives and wants to show that
support. Membership as a Friend entitles the individual to a Friend’s card, an
advanced copy of the newsletters that are produced, as well as early knowledge of
forthcoming events. Register now, the subscription is 15€ for a couple, 10€ for all others. To

        Benefit Concert

On Friday 22nd February Age Concern held a concert at Centro Cultural
Padre Manuel, Estepona, thanks to Clarice Williams, Alex Aldous, and Sue
McGill. This was a benefit concert and the four performers, Cristina Lopez
Risueno (soprano), Marika Rausche (soprano), Clarice Williams (mezzo-
soprano) and Vera Sonia (pianist), gave of their time to support the work of
the Age Concern charity which helps older people in the community
remain full members of society. The audience enjoyed a selection of
classical and Spanish songs bringing rapturous applause from them which
        the performers thoroughly deserved.
The singers were joined on stage by the local Coro CantoLibre for a three
songs to round the evening off. This was a fund raising event and several
hundred Euros were raised to help the volunteers working in the community with clients
        who need our assistance.
Thanks go to the Ayuntamiento for the use of the theatre and to Julio and the staff of
Centro Cultural Padre Manuel for helping to make the evening a success. Mostly though,
thanks to the wonderful singers and pianist.
