Often when you say Manilva, people conjure up an image of a small, traditional, white washed village. It is that, and much more. The municipality of Manilva is located in the province of Málaga, just before the Málaga -Cádiz border. Whilst only an hour from the vibrant city of Málaga and its international airport, it is also just an hour away from the white sandy beaches of Tarifa. Manilva is a hidden jewel, and often overlooked. If you are looking to immerse yourself in the Spanish lifestyle, then it is a fabulous location. You can purchase a little more for your money here than in nearby Marbella (20 minutes away) and Sotogrande (15 minutes away). So, once you have decided to buy in Manilva, which of the 5 key areas that make up Manilva municipality could you consider?
A small seaside town with a Spanish feel to it. It has beautiful beaches and a wonderful promenade, with lots of restaurants and cafés. Amenities in Sabinillas include a church, little boutiques, post office, medical centre and sports centre. Every Friday there is a small market selling fresh produce, clothes ,spices etc. If you want to be close to amenities and beach, then check out urbanisations such as La Noria, Residencial Duquesa and Maria Teresa. Walk along the promenade from Sabinillas, towards Cádiz and in ten minutes you arrive at La Duquesa.
La Duquesa can be split into two parts, Puerto de La Duquesa and La Duquesa Golf. Whilst linked to Sabinillas by the promenade, La Duquesa offers more of an international and modern feel. Duquesa marina offers all kinds of restaurants and international cuisine. One can sit in the Marina and admire the boats. Properties in La Duquesa Marina tend to be priced slightly higher than those in Sabinillas. Duquesa Golf is linked to the Marina via internal roads. The surrounding hills are made up of gated urbanisations of either apartments, terraced houses or villas which all have facilities such as communal pools etc. So whether looking for a two bed apartment with golf views or a villa with private pool, Duquesa has a lot to offer. If looking for a holiday apartment, check out urbanisations like Duquesa Village, or for a house or villa, Los Carmenes and Las Brisas are great developments.
El Castillo lies next to Duquesa, yet the contrast between them is huge. It is a small fishing village, renowned for its fresh fish, traditional fishermen style cottages and some lovely beach coves. If you want to be within walking distance of the village and the beach, check urbanisations like La Borboleta, Manilva Beach and Los Granados. Past Castillo there are lovely coastal areas. Along the coast and on the mountainside lie little urbanisations of apartments, houses and villas. When deciding where to purchase, you need to decide if you prefer a mountainside property with views or a beachside property, close to amenities. Check out Los Hidalgos and Princesa Kristina.
Finally you get to Punta Paloma, home to a beautiful cove - people come from all over to visit this beach. Across the road, are a number of luxury apartments and individual villas. The views from La Paloma Hill are spectacular and properties located here, enjoy views to Gibraltar and the North African coastline. For those looking for off-plan investments, there are great opportunities in the areas of Bahia de las Rocas and La Paloma.
A whitewashed village with cobbled streets and coloured plant pots with a real Spanish feel. The village is sleepy around siesta time and vibrant during festivals such as the vendimia and Easter Week.
