Mountain biking is one of the best ways to explore the Sierras in Andalucia and, with over 300 days of sunshine, you can expect decent weather at any time of the year.
The National and Natural Parks in Andalucia have thousands of kilometres of trails ideal for mountain biking. Favourite areas easily reached from the Costa del Sol are the Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de Nieves and Grazalema.
From the Costa de la Luz you have, in the northern parts of Huelva province, Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche with wide meadows whilst on the coast of Cadiz province you will find woodland trails and fascinating flat trails on the salinas in La Breña and Marismas del Barbate.
Inland, in the north of Jaen province, the Despeñaperros Natural Park is famous for its ravines and craggs, challenging trails for any mountain biker, whilst in Granada province the mighty Cazorla and Segura Sierras and the Castril Sierra provide enough trails to last a lifetime.
For those who relish a challenge, the Sierra Nevada has some of the highest mountain bike trails in the Iberian Peninsula, including to the top of the highest mountain in the Peninsula, Mulhacén.
