Royal Fair of Algeciras
The Royal Fair of Algeciras, also known as the Feria Real de Algeciras in Spanish, is an annual event that takes place in the city of Algeciras, in the province of Cádiz in southern Spain. This traditional celebration is held in honour of the city's patron saint, Nuestra Señora de la Palma, and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
It has been declared a celebration of 'Andalucian Tourist Interest'.
The Royal Fair of Algeciras will be held from 22 to 29 June 2024.
The origins of the Royal Fair of Algeciras can be traced back to the 18th century when the city was a major commercial hub in the region. Merchants from different parts of Spain would gather in Algeciras during the month of August to showcase their products and establish new business relationships.
Over time, this event evolved into a festive occasion, featuring amusement rides, food stalls, and live music.
Today, the Royal Fair of Algeciras is a colourful and vibrant event that takes place over the course of several days.
The fairgrounds are located in the outskirts of the city and consist of a large outdoor space filled with tents, booths, and attractions. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including carnival games, bullfighting, and traditional dances.
